Papers to gather
- All chats, group names, links and the app or website used
Shows the false promises and identifies the operators. Where: Telegram, WhatsApp, the app itself. - All payments made and any small "returns" received
Receiving accounts are frozen using these details. Where: Bank statement, UPI history.

- Complaint acknowledgement number or FIR — Needed for bank and court steps.
- Names and contacts of other victims — Supports a joint complaint.
- Report on 1930 or cybercrime.gov.in — Starts the freeze process.
What the law says
Cheating is an offence under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita; online fraud is reported on 1930 / cybercrime.gov.in. Unregistered deposit schemes can also be reported on RBI's Sachet portal.
