Neighbour problem — illegal construction, leakage, drain, noise, nuisance or harassment
Most neighbour problems are solved fastest through the municipality or the magistrate, not a long civil case. Proof over time is what matters.

Unauthorised construction is handled by the municipal or development authority under state building laws. A public nuisance can be stopped by an order of the Sub-Divisional / Executive Magistrate under Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (earlier Section 133 CrPC). A civil court can grant an injunction and damages for private nuisance or interference with light, air or a common wall. Noise is governed by the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000 — loudspeakers are generally not allowed between 10 pm and 6 am.

Papers that usually help
- Your sale deed, allotment letter or rent agreement
Every office first asks who you are. - Dated photos and videos of the problem, taken over several days
Repeated proof is stronger than one photo. - Approved building plan or a copy of the neighbour’s sanction (if available)
Shows the construction goes beyond approval. - Photos of damage to your walls, ceiling or floor, and repair estimates
Needed to claim repair costs. - Audio/video recordings with time, and a simple log of dates and hours
Noise cases depend on pattern and timing. - Messages, recordings or witness names for abuse or threats
Needed for a police complaint. - Copies of every complaint you made and any reply
Courts and magistrates ask what you tried first. - Written complaint to the municipal / development authority
They can stop work, seal or demolish. - Written complaint to the society / RWA
Societies can act on common areas and leakage between flats. - Message to your landlord asking them to act
Some remedies must be pursued by the owner.
