The Code on Social Security, 2020 (in force from 21 November 2025) recognises gig and platform workers and provides for registration on e-Shram. Rajasthan, Karnataka and some other states have their own gig-worker laws with welfare boards and, in Karnataka, protection against arbitrary deactivation.
